How to Join the Professional Team and where are our current Chapters? Frequently Asked Questions (ASAC):
Why should I join the American Subcontractors Association of California? The American Subcontractors Association was formed to improve the profitability of construction subcontractors and suppliers through communication, education and government/industry advocacy. It is the only association specifically formed to improve subcontractor's rights in California. The association also provides a very good networking tool to meet and learn from the top subcontractor's and suppliers/services in California. If I don't have much time to get involved, what can I really get out of ASA as a member? First of all, the newsletter from ASAC, the ASACalifornia,
always has a lot of information regarding new laws, new legal cases, and
new services being provided to ASAC members. You will also receive timely educational material from ASA
National and your local chapter. Secondly, ASA has group purchasing
power. You may save more money in the group programs than you pay in
dues! Back to top Our ASAC legal counsel was responsible for the ruling making "pay-if-paid" contracts illegal. Just as important, we have a legislative advocate in Sacramento continuously working on getting new laws passed to help subcontractor's and suppliers. The ASAC does not, however, accomplish very much without the support of its members. We are always in need of the members help with regard to grassroots support on the current legislation in Sacramento as well as legal issues which are in need of attention. Can I help in my local chapter to better the conditions of my local subcontracting community? Every month to two months, the California chapters have general meetings to discuss local construction issues from
being paid for work completed to understanding the newest laws in
California. The meetings normally last approximately 2 hours. Back to top You bet there are! You'll find workshops and programs
designed just for you, the busy working professional in need of the latest
information, taught in a brief concise format with exact information you can
implement in your business the very next day. We pride ourselves in
offering a wide range of timely topics to keep you abreast of the latest
issues in the industry. For more information, please e-mail either the ASAC office or your nearest local chapter!
